Abstract
The preparation of the draft of DIN 4420 Part 1-3 required extensive static calculations for the definition of the standard designs of tube-and-fitting scaffolds. Special emphasis was placed on the effects of phenomena typical of scaffolds, such as connection by pins or semirigid connections of standards and girders. It is possible, by taking into account some design rules, to reduce the complex cubic structure into plane mechanical models.
