Abstract
By means of an ideal joint testing stand, a model for a machine tool frame and a knee type milling machine the influence on the stiffness of joints exerted by various joint fillers was analyzed. The results of these experiments which agreed well with the different test objects show that foils and other carrier material (particularly viscoelastic material) used in joints can contribute to improving the dynamic stiffness of a machine.
