Abstract
In autumn 2020, the Bavarian State Government commissioned a commission of experts to make proposals for a future-proof water supply in Bavaria. In many areas, a rethink is required. With today's strategies and plans, we cannot meet the future water requirements. The optimization of the control in dry periods (water shortage) requires a prioritization between the common good and other interests and requires a careful consideration. Measures such as use of technical reserves of flood protection also for low water elevation, increasing the low water reserve of existing storage facilities by increasing storage level, using energy storage facilities and reducing the hydrological and hydrogeological contrasts between southern and northern Bavaria by optimizing the water transfer.
