Zinc-Catalyzed Reductions of Unsaturated Compounds

From the viewpoint of cost-effectiveness and green chemistry the application of Zn as a catalyst metal is very attractive. Especially, Zn-catalyzed reductions have gained increasing interest in the last decade. In this chapter, Zn-catalyzed homogeneous hydrogenations, transfer hydrogenations, and hydrosilylation reactions of C=O and C=N bonds are summarized. In addition, few examples of related reductions of olefins and sulfoxides will be highlighted.
