Abstract
Treatment of the phosphorus ylides [(CH3)3C]2P(CH3)CH2 and (CH2)5P(CH3CH2 with [(1,5-C8H12)RhCl]2 (I) gives the mononuclear organometallic compounds (C8H12)Rh(CH2)2P[C(CH3)3]2 (II) and (C8H12Rh(CH2)2P(CH2)5. The olefinic ligand in II can be substituted by CO and P(CH3)3 with formation of the corresponding bis(carbonyl) and bis(trimethylphosphine) complexes, respectively. With methylphospholanium methylide an insoluble yellow material is obtained, which is probably a polymeric species. The double ylide (CH3)3PNP(CH3)2CH2 and I give a particularly stable chelate ylide complex (C8H12)Rh[CH2P(CH3)2]2N. The reaction syntheses follow the trasylidation scheme with precipitation of equimolar amounts of phosphonium salts as by-products.
