Abstract

XYZ Analysis for Volatile Production Programs. Part classifications are often the basis for taking important decisions in the field of logistics. Therefore they should meet company and branch specific needs. Within a cooperation between MAN Truck & Bus AG and the Institute for Materials Handling, Material Flow, Logistics (fml) of the Technical University of Munich existing approaches for the XYZ-classification of parts are examined and weaknesses are pointed out. Based on this a new method is developed, which is first applied in a framework for determining optimal control parameters in materials planning and scheduling.
