Abstract

The Wing Tower was designed in 1991 for an international competition for a `Tower for Glasgow'. The project is now intended to complement the Imax and Exploratorium as part of the new Scottish National Science Centre located on Pacific Quay. Visitors have the opportunity to experience views over the city and river Clyde estuary from a height of 100 m and from a state-of-the-art active systems tower with information displayed on atlantic weather conditions, regional conditions around the Clyde estuary, and local wind speed and direction at various heights on and above the tower.
