Abstract

Due to the effects of the worldwide financial and economic crisis, production enterprises are confronted with an increasingly turbulent environment. Therefore the changeability of companies and their assembly system is the key factor to sustain in globalized markets. In this paper an approach to modularize an assembly system for the demand of more adaptability and reconfigurability will be shown. This procedure is especially suited for planners in small and medium-sized enterprises.
