Abstract
The Jahn-Teller effect in the pE″ Rydberg series on NH3 is investigated within a simple multi-channel-quantum-defect-type model. The parameters of the model are determined from recently observed infrared-optical double resonance spectra of the B̃1E″ (3px,y band system. Jahn-Teller induced vibrational autoionization effects and pronounced perturbations of high Rydberg members are analyzed. a.
