Abstract

A widely tunable laser diode has been developed in InGaAsP/InP at L,55μm wavelength using an integrated vertical Mach-Zehnder (VMZ) interferometer. Regular tuning behaviour is obtained with only one wavelength control current over a turning range of 30nm with ~50 accessible wavelengths.
