Abstract
With fib Model Code 2020, new design rules for reinforced concrete structures have recently been published. For civil engineers, academics, and practitioners, the question arises of evaluating the new bond design models compared to their previous edition, the fib Model Code 2010, and the updated normative design rules in FprEN 1992–1–1. For this purpose, the design models are analysed and compared using a comprehensive database with around 1 200 laps and anchorage tests. To ensure comparability, the models are reformulated with partial safety factors from the design level to the mean value level. In addition, a comprehensive evaluation of the decisive influencing parameters is performed using regression analyses. In summary, the analyses show that the investigated models give comparable results at the mean level and that the statistical comparison shows only minor differences. However, the design according to fib Model Code 2020 shows a minor agreement between the design model and the experimental test data, so the design according to fib Model Code 2010 is still recommended at the mean value level.
