Abstract
For the design of the shear reinforcement of profiled reinforced or prestressed concrete elements with compressed flanges the existing design regulations provide special rules. The application of these rules in actual design cases results in highly different degrees of safety. The aim of the present experimental investigations was to determine the actual load capacity of the web of such elements with different degrees of strength and inclination of the shear reinforcement and, on this basis, to submit a design proposal. With the aid of numerous measuring gages which were mainly arranged in the form of a measurement grid, it was possible to evaluate the deformation and distortion of the web under load. On the basis of these experimental results an improvement of the shear design is proposed.
