Abstract
Damaged spruce needles exhibit higher contents of ascorbic acid and glutathione as compared to control needles. The concentrations of photosynthetic products such as glucose, fructose, saccharose, and starch are smaller in needles turned yellow. Such needles are characterized by low potassium contents whereas the contain higher concentrations of magnesium, calcium, and manganese in comparison to green control needles.
