Abstract
This paper presents recent investigations on the fatigue behaviour of shear connectors - headed studs - in composite constructions. The design recommendations of the EC 4, part 2 are verified and some basis of design, which are still missing are proposed. Fatigue strength curves for headed studs embedded in concrete slabs with profiled sheeting are derived, which take the influence of the studs diameter and the peak of the cyclic load into account. Furthermore stress range history tests and so-called block tests are presented. These tests were carried out to verify the applicability or Miners rule as damage accumulation law for both: concrete slabs with and without profiled sheeting.
