Abstract
Since April 1995 a system (LBS by DIN 9684) for spatial variable fertilizer application was realised with LBS-prototyp-devices of different manufacturers at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering of the Technical University of Munich. The functionality, the bus load, datatransmission delay times and the influence of transmitting positioning data (e.g. GPS) with different update intervalls to get higher positioning accuracy were investigated. Except little installation problems correct function could be established. Bus load and datatransmission delay times ocurring while system activity were determined. Transmitting additional positioning data with an 1-2 Hz update rate guarantees the neccessary position accuracy of 1 m (vehicle velocity < 5 m/s) with still plenty of free bus capacity and no negative influence on datatransmission delay times of other process data.
