Abstract

This paper investigates the unscented transformations (UT) of the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) for the sensorless speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The UKF can omit a linearization process of the extended Kalman filter(EKF) through the UT, and prevent errors due to the linearization. The UT addresses this problem by using deterministic sample approach. This paper explains several UT methods, compares them through the simulation and applies to the sensorless speed control of the PMSM.
