Abstract

The fumaric nitrile-benzene charge transfer complex has been investigated. The equilibrium constant K has been determined by both ultraviolet and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, following the method of Benesi-Hildebrand. The experimental result kNMR > KUV is associated with the structure of the complex.
