Abstract
Which form of psychotherapy achieves the best longterm results for anorexia nervosa patients with regard to physical and psychosocial disorders. Against the background of this still unresolved question the available hypotheses on etiology, psychodynamics and therapeutic technique are presented and critically reviewed. It is very important to separate the primary disorder from the secondary disease consequences and in spite of the excessive fear of the patient to be controlled by the therapy to build a strong doctor patient relationship.
