Abstract

Pursuit control issues of tunnel displays which provide the pilot with preview of command and status information in a 3-dimensional format are considered. These properties of tunnel displays enable the pilot to structure a control feedforward, yielding a pursuit system organization. An approach for designing the tunnel display is presented in order to achieve an efficient pursuit system organization. The theoretical and conceptual findings are supported by results from pilot-in-the-loop simulation experiments.
