Abstract

A singly resonant optical parametric oscillator with LiNbO3 crystal is described, synchronously pumped by microsecond pulse trains of a Nd:glass laser (1.3 ps, 1.054 μm). Narrow-band pulses are generated close to the bandwidth limitation with durations below 0.5 ps and steep wings with 100 fs slopes. A tuning range of 1.35-2.11 μm and 15% maximum conversion efficiency are achieved. The measured dependence of the pulse duration on the wavelength tuning is in good agreement with numerical calculations.
