Transverse pressure distribution under spillway aerator jets - effects on air entrainment.

Abstract

Subpressure variation under the jets of cavitation preventing spillway aerators has previously been almost ignored in the calculation of air entrainment. This is due to the scarcity of prototype data and because it was thought that no adequate theoretical description of the subpressure variation existed. The present paper shows that the principles and empirical knowledge from the distribution problem of ventilation engineering can be applied to develop a satisfactory subpressure calculation procedure. The accuracy of the new method is demonstrated by comparison with prototype data. (English abstract)
