Abstract

The load-bearing capacity of slender columns of plain concrete is analyzed using a realistic material law, taking into account the stiffening effect of tensile stresses between cracks. Reduction factors for the load-bearing capacity, according to the degree of slenderness are given for two concrete strength classes.
