Abstract
This article is a continuation of an earlier comparative study on the load-bearing strength of aluminum struts determined in accordance with the method proposed in the New Standard DIN 4113 that with the load-bearing strength of welded aluminum compression members in the frequently occurring stability cases of ″buckling″ and ″torsional buckling″ . The permissible comprehensive loads in relation to the slenderness ratio are shown for differently welded aluminum compression members for various materials, cross sectional shapes and dimensions, and for different positions of the weld. In order to facilitate the use of these equations, worked examples are given for various cases of application and formability can be considerably improved by a planishing process using sprayed rollers.
