Abstract
Stack-gas condensates of municipal waste incineration facilities in Bavaria are analysed with biological assays. The Neutral Red assay and the Ciliates assay give results on cytotoxicity. Mutagenicity is examined with the Ames assay. The AHH-induction assay detects dose-dependent enzyme inducing effects of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and compounds with related structures. Combined toxic effects of stack-gas and additional hints on specific components due to their biological effects can be recognised. Methods, results and a first approach to correlate the biological results with the corresponding chemical data are shown.
