Abstract

Concept for Consideration of the Manufacturing Process. Laser-based powder bed fusion of metals (PBF-LB/M) provides advantages over conventional manufacturing processes, such as a high degree of geometrical freedom. Nevertheless, the PBF-LB/M process imposes manufacturing restrictions, which have to be considered during the component design. In contrast to the mass of the part, manufacturing restrictions are often not accounted for in the topology optimization. Within the project OptProLaS these temperature-dependent restrictions are determined and considered during the component design by coupling the topology optimization and the process simulation.
