Abstract

The composition of epiphytic diatoms on Chara spp. was analysed monthly from May to November 1992. The samples were taken at six different depths of the oligotrophic Lake Lustsee (Germany). Simultaneously the water quality of the lake was characterized by determination of physical and chemical parameters. 153 taxa (147 species) of diatoms were found. The comparison of the diatom associations by similarity index showed three different zones. The analysis of depth distribution of the 13 main species and some other important species confirmed the division into these three zones.
