Abstract

We present a new modality for tomographic imaging of fluorescence activity in the visible light range. The tomographic method employed a multi-angle, multi-projection illumination scheme from an Ar+ laser emitting at 488nm, while detection was achieved using a highly sensitive CCD camera. Reconstruction is based on novel photon propagation models developed specifically for visible light. We show that the technique can quantitatively detect fluorescence with sub millimeter spatial resolution. We also show that the detection of gene expression (using GFP) is possible in deep tissues quantitatively.
