Abstract

A monolithic, thermally widely tunable laser that covers the wavelength range between 1552 and 1602 nm is presented. The device requires only two tuning currents for wide quasi-continuous wavelength tuning and is readily manufacturable with conventional DFB laser fabrication technology.
