Abstract
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in cases with shock-refractory ventricular tachycardia and -fibrillation is of special concern to all emergency-care specialists. Resuscitation should be performed according to the guidelines published by the corresponding societies. All potentially reversible causes should be reviewed and be treated if possible. Recommended medication includes adrenaline, amiodarone, magnesium, bicarbonate and potassium. Administration of lidocaine and thrombolysis in this situation is specially reviewed.
