Abstract

A new general approach to the theory of radiationless transitions is outlined, and worked out in a detailed, simplified form. The result shows an exponential dependence of the radiantionless lifetime on energy, in close quantitative agreement with the recently observed energy dependence of the radiationless transitions in β-naphtylamine.
