Abstract

We show that the pp→ΛΛ reaction cross section at energies very close to threshold as predicted by our previously developed kaon exchange model reproduces the recent LEAR data. Differential and total cross sections as well as polarization data follow the expectation of strong s-wave suppression as suggested in a model which combines the leading one-kaon exchange process with a realistic description of distortions and annihilation in the pp and ΛΛ channels.
