Abstract

Silylenes are very versatile ligands and the heavier analog of the better known carbenes. Bissilylenes can be categorized as compounds with two silylenes in a single molecule. In this mini review, recent work on the use of bissilylene ligand to investigate structural and chemical properties of their transition metal complexes and their catalytic applications is highlighted. Their utility as strong σ-donor ligand is well documented, which paves the way for several striking compounds.
