Abstract
When they can be identified as the cause of spectacular accidents, human errors attract much attention. However, even under less spectacular circumstances, they can be costly and result in harm. In almost all areas of work, human failure has become the main cause of breakdown and accidents. Even where it appears that complex technical safety measures ensure that failure can be intercepted, the reliability to technical systems depends to a large degree on human action. Quantifying human reliability allows the significant influences to be pinpointed, improving the reliability of the system overall.
