Abstract

Since 1960 the Association for Comparative Alpine Research has produced a topographic map series of eastern Nepal, mostly at a scale of 1:50 000. This was to serve as a basis for further studies and includes the glaciated high mountain regions between the rivers Arun and Trisuli as well as the low mountain range immediately to the south. The series also includes the Kathmandu Valley on a scale of 1:10 000. This paper summarizes the content and the development of the map series and describes the compilation of the final map, the Helambu-Langtangsheet. This is a general topographic map produced in accordance with the results of the Survey of India. -Author
