Abstract

The empirically traceable multidimensionality may be the key to a completely new comprehension of business networks and therefore permit to legally accomplish the challenge posed by networks. The influencing factor type of cooperation may be of great importance for the systematisation of business models. The modularity is based on the idea that each type of cooperation can be combined with each type of exchange process and the outcome of this being a business model respectively a module in the meaning of a systematic description. The application of the module "transformation-exchange of consideration" is presumably and especially suited for goods which are not exhausted and which can therefore be used independently by all network members in the same quality. The empirical findings furthermore clarify that networks are subject to a constant development and the individual modules can only be used temporarily by networks. The modular model, in contrast, accommodates the plurality of activities in business networks by considering separate homogenous modules.
