Abstract

The lattice parameters and optic axial angles of alkali feldspars were determined along eight N-S profiles. The 500oC isotherm separates a northern area of exclusively low microclines (2Valpha = or > 76o and 0.95 = or < t1O-t1m = or < 1.0) from a southern area of 'high microclines' (2Valpha = or < 76o and 0.0 = or < t1O-t1m = or < 0.55). The isotherm represents the diffusive phase transformation of microcline/sanidine during prograde Alpine metamorphism. -K.A.R.
