Abstract

CASOPT is a three year project funded within the European Union's FP7 Marie Curie IAPP (Industry Academic Partnerships and Pathways) program. The main focus of IAPP is to bringing industry and academia closer together through exchanging researchers in both directions. CASOPT's consortium consists of one industrial and three academic partners, namely Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) on the industrial side, and the University of Cambridge (UK), Technische Universität München (Germany), and Technische Universität Graz (Austria) on the academic side. From the technical point of view, CASOPT proposes to facilitate a paradigm change from state-of-the-art simulation based design to novel optimization based design of complex industrial products from high voltage engineering.
