Abstract

Treatment of 2 molar equiv of (^tBuNC)AuCl with 1 equiv of the dipotassium salt of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, K₂(SSS), results in the formation of the crystalline product [(^tBuNC)Au]₂(SSS) in addition to polymeric material. A crystallographic study reveals a complex supramolecular structure for the crystalline product resembling a "knitted" network containing six independent gold centers.
