Abstract

Treatment of 2 molar equiv of (tBuNC)AuCl with 1 equiv of the dipotassium salt of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, K2(SSS), results in the formation of the crystalline product [(tBuNC)Au]2(SSS) in addition to polymeric material. A crystallographic study reveals a complex supramolecular structure for the crystalline product resembling a "knitted" network containing six independent gold centers.
