Abstract
A summary of the application of numerical methods in hydraulic research and development is presented. To shorten the innovation times, numerical methods were developed in various fields and combined into an integral system. This contains the following modules: hydraulic design, i.e. the determination of the geometry of the flow passages; flow analysis by means of singularity or finite difference methods and a boundary layer computation for the determination of flow turning, energy conversion and flow losses; CNC milling of the model runner blades runner blades on the basis of surfaces approximated by means of B-splines.
