Abstract

In order to get better acquisition conditions in small animal scintigraphic planar or SPECT imaging, we specified the different definitions of spatial resolution which usually appear in the litterature and we analysed parameters which act on scintigraphic images resolution and sensitivity using pinhole or multi-pinhole collimation. These theoretical results are related to those obtained by authors who use different collimators (simple pinhole, micro-pinhole, multi-pinhole and coded aperture) and different detectors (NaI cristal, semi-conductor). Their results are discussed insisting on tomographic reconstruction methods and the way a faithful physical and geometrical modelization can improve final images.
