Abstract

The controversial interpretation on the XUV spectra of PH3 and SiH4 have been examined experimentally and theoretically. An assigned consistent with measured 2p-absroption spectra of gaseous and solid SiH4 and PH3, and with CI calculation on core-excited states of SiH4 is presented. The predictions of the equivalent ionic core virtual orbital model are confirmed. Term-values for core-excited states differ systematically from those for valence-excited states.
