Abstract
A double-blind placebo controlled study was performed to evaluate the effects of different antihistamines on the driving performance. 30 healthy care drivers were divided into three groups (placebo, terfenadine and dimetindenmaleate). There was no difference between terfenadine and placebo. Compared to dimetindenmaleate there was a trend toward a better driving performance in the terfenadine group, which was not statistically significant. The subjective feeling of sedation showed no correlation to the objective driving performance of the subjects.
