Abstract
Incremental launching of prestressed concrete bridges is known to be a very cost effective construction method, even now after the general regulation to incorporate external tendons into box girders in Germany [1], [2]. This applies in particular in case of the superstructure being prestressed from both internal tendons during construction and additional external tendons for the final state of the superstructure. By using the recently completed road bridge Scherenbusch as an example, the construction method is generally discussed and consequently compared with two other new viaducts of the same type. Finally, a brief comparison with international examples is being performed and the possible influence resulting from future changes in the codes is pointed out.
