Abstract
Six years after the financial crisis, volatility is still an increasing global competitive factor. Inventories are often increased to buffer inefficient and reactive processes in order to level volatility in production and customer behavior. Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems (KB) opposes such an inventory increase. One part of this trend is the cooperation with the Institute for Materials Handling, Material Flow, Logistics at the Technical University Munich. During this cooperation, a proactive inventory system was generated to analytically manage inventories. A global rollout follows a successful pilot project in the near future.
