Abstract

The synthesis of the proton conducting polyphosphate composites using sol-gel method was investigated. The structural and thermal properties of the composites, and its electrical conductivity at intermediate temperatures up to 300 °C were also investigated. The synthesis of ammonium polyphosphate electrolytes was also discussed. It is found that after an initial mass loss of 3.5%, the electrolyte was thermal stable upon cycling between 50 °C and 300 °C. The conductivity values of the electrolyte were found to vary from 6.29 × 10-2 S cm-1 at 100 °C to 3.37 × 10 -1 S cm-1 at 300 °C in hydrogen atmosphere.
