Abstract

We performed hole-burning Stark effect experiments on Mg-substituted horseradish peroxidase and its complex with naphthohydroxamic acid. For comparison we also investigated Mg-mesoporphyrin in an ethanol/glycerol glass. The results demonstrate that the inversion symmetry of the porphyrin ring is broken by the protein environment.
