title = "Supporting the multi-domain plant engineering process using engineering knowledge from formalized model-based libraries",
abstract = "A concept that supports the multi-domain plant engineering process (process or manufacturing technical plants) is proposed in this paper. Central aspect of this concept is a formalized model-based library (FMBL) in which engineering knowledge can be stored and reused in later projects. This engineering knowledge results from the involved domains of plant engineering, i.e. process planning, mechanical engineering, electrical/electronical (E/E) engineering as well as software engineering. To establish a FMBL for engineering knowledge the requirements, functions as well as the corresponding components of system structure and their behaviors have to be extracted from standard engineering documentations, modeled and formalized in a way that it can be stored and retrieved from a library without information losses. By suggesting solutions of previous projects, suitable for reuse in successive projects, this concept based on a FMBL will decrease engineering effort as well as shorten the developing time for plant engineering.",
