Abstract

The paper demonstrates IT support for open innovation communities within companies by means of a productively used network visualization tool, implemented in and evaluated with a German IT service provider. From prior literature as well as our own research, we found the 'network visualization' in virtual communities to be highly important, especially within predominantly unstructured social networks. Translating this requirement into software functionalities, we developed a web-based prototype to support the visualization and exploration of people-, innovation concept- as well as people-innovation- networks.
