Abstract

The ground state vibrational levels of Ca2 exhibit broadening due to fast vibrational relaxation. The relaxation in the upper state is considerably slower and in krypton extensive unrelaxed emission is observed. The Ca2 molecular potential and vibrational constants exhibit large matrix shifts due to interaction with the lattice.
